“Elegant dissonance between the quirky corrugated beats she fights with and that stirring, adaptable voice.” (Cairo Scene)
Nadah El Shazly is a singer and an Egyptian composer. Coming from Cairo’s alternative scene, her music defies genres and times. Her first album, Ahwar (“wetlands” in English), appeared on Nawa Records in November 2017, is an album from another world, resembling an abstract mythological story. Arab prose dwells on guitar interjections, their voices filtered and torn as well as an avant-gardist arrangement of dissonant winds and random drum sounds that paint an enchanting soundscape. Get ready for both a surprising and audacious concert!
