Tanya Tagaq’s music doesn’t sound like anything you’ve heard before. Originally from the Arctic, she’s an interpreter, an improviser, an avant-garde composer and an experimental artist. She practices throat singing, a technique she taught herself. She ties jazz with heavy metal, transgressing musical and spatial borders. After two remarkable albums and multiple awards, she released the EP “Toothsayer” (2019) with an electronic touch. As the opener for the Voix de Femmes Festival, she will confuse your senses, backed by six musicians, featuring the txalaparta and the theremin. An impressive sensual experience, not one you want to miss.
