RaQL (Tropical DJipsies)

RaQL is a Brussels-based artist of Cape Verdean, Portuguese, and Angolan descent, specialising in tropical and electronic music from Portuguese and African communities around the world. Her sets are eclectic and energising. RaQL became a member of Tropical DJipsies in early 2022. 

She has performed at several events in Brussels, including at the Core Festival, Sfinks Mixed, Dour, Couleur Café, Esperanzah Kiosk Radio, and Bruzz. “Coming from multiple backgrounds, it was while travelling around the world that I became passionate about this music referred to as ‘from elsewhere’. I was able to find the time to develop my musical ear to create my own musicality. A mix of electronic genres but always tinged with contemporary Afrobeat.”

Her selection, psychedelic and danceable, trippy and cinematic, is a return to roots through the cosmic psyche. Pulsating and transcendental, her sets fill the dance floor with excitement, everyone eager to hear the next song, immersed in the combination of grooves ranging from indigenous music to contemporary rhythms from different parts of the globe.
