First collective listening of a subtle and sensitive documentary about Asian feminism in Belgium, carved out of doubt and militant joy.
"Je vous parle ici de ce qui n'existe pas" (I am talking to you about something that doesn’t exist) is a subtle sound exploration of Asian feminism and anti-Asian racism in Belgium among those who live it.
It consists of 6 gestures (and there could be a hundred)
- Defying the white gaze
- Embodying struggles
- Decolonising intimacy
- Nurturing diasporas
- Rethinking subaltern masculinities
- Sketching desirable futures
6 interrelated initiatives to feed an obsession: creating minority archives and weaving collective memories.
So that we can never use a lack of vocabulary as an excuse to claim the inexistence of these stories.
A sound creation shaped by doubt and militant joy, conceived and produced by Mélanie Cao, founder of the Asiofeminism Now! project, which we're more than delighted to bring to you as a premiere!
