What makes transmissions possible? What tensions, trade-offs, and choices do they involve? What are the levers, obstacles, and actions that need to be invented to keep legacies alive? How can we make room for continuity while remaining open to transformation?

To untangle the questions that preoccupy us, we ask others whose experiences and current projects resonate with the subject.

Whether they have inherited stories, archives, professional practices, or even institutions, or whether they are now passing them on, our three guests will share their experiences with Morgane Batoz-Herges and Ann De Fonvent, members of Voix De Femmes.

Martine Wijckart founded and directed the Théâtre de la Balsamine in Brussels for 20 years, where she is now an associate artist. She is now exploring the themes of transmission and inheritance at the threshold of life with Écrire la fin / writing the end , a text written for her friend and collaborator Yvette Poirier, which can be seen on October 11 at the Balsamine.

Drawing on figures close to her (her father, mother, aunts), Yasmine Yahiatène  works are set at the intersection of family transmission and (colonial) history. With the show La Fracture, still on tour, Les châteaux de ma mère / My mother's castles, currently in production, and Le château de mes tantes / My aunts' castle, an interactive and collective project, also in progress.

Last year, as part of the Herstories project led by Écarlate la Cie and the FAME Festival, Caroline Berliner produced the podcast Celles qui jouent (Those Who Perform), which gives a voice to five theater actresses from French-speaking Belgium whose careers span the last fifty years: Anne-Marie Loop, Estelle Marion, Agnès Limbos, Francine Landrain, and Jo Deseure.

  • This event is part of the Collective Femmage program, created in memory of Brigitte Kaquet (1952-2024), founder of the Festival.
