A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium), Céline Delbecq is an actor, author and theatre director. In 2009, she founded the Compagnie la Bête Noire in Brussels, for which she writes and directs plays taking place in a Western social context and strives to portray the taboos and discords of our society.

Her work echoes the intimate and the political, questions the place of the individual in and facing the collective, explores difficult themes (a.o. incest, suicide, mental health, childhood) with a finesse and accuracy that shakes, in the best sense of the word.

A recipient of numerous prizes (SACD Prize for Francophone Dramaturgy, Critics' Prize, Lyon Theatre Authors' Days, Performing Arts Prize, Artcena, etc.), Céline Delbecq is published mainly by Editions Lansman and translated into numerous languages. À cheval sur le dos des oiseaux (Riding on the Backs of Birds) is the ninth show produced by her company.
