Julie Delporte

Originally from Saint-Malo, France, Julie Delporte is a multidisciplinary author and artist. Trained in film studies at the Université de Montréal where she now lives, she is the author of several graphic novels: Journal (2014), Je vois des antennes partout (2015), Moi aussi je voulais l'emporter (2017), and the very recent Décroissance Sexuelle (2021), as well as a wonderfully titled children’s book: Je suis un raton laveur (2013). She also publishes literary essays for the magazine Liberté, among others, and illustrates for various magazines and publishing houses. 

She is co-founder of the magazine Tristesse and the Montreal House of Comic Books’ workshops, as well as the Montreal 48-hour Comic Book Creative Festival. She collaborates on the collective project Filles Missiles. She makes use of the fanzine format, and explores printing techniques (screen printing, risograph printing, engraving) and ceramics. Behind poetic, innocent drawings, her approach is resolutely political and attests to a - very - deep sensitivity.
