Compagnie Espèces de…

  • Theatre

Founded in Liège in 2000, the Company Espèces de… (which can be translated as “Bunch of…”) is a collective of actresses-animators. They work across the pedagogical, political, and aesthetic dimensions to develop their theatrical projects.

In October 2023, the Company started a new workshop for action-theatre that was deliberately open for mixed groups (mixed-gender, ally-focused etc). Seven women have responded to the call and met every week over the course of two years, learning from each other’s experiences and about themselves on the theatre stage.

A common theme emerged: departures or the need to leave a pressured situation to “save oneself”. Without dwelling on the “why” (domestic, social, or societal violence), they evoke the “how” and the “toward what.”

This work has culminated in the play Ligne(s) de Fuite / Vanishing Line(s), which premiered in Spring 2025 at the Caravansérail festival (Liège, Manège Fonck).
