Tartit is an iconic group on the Tuareg music scene, and one of the few led by women.

Founded in 1995 by Fadimata Walet Oumar, aka “Disco”, the group originates from Timbuktu, Mali (more precisely from the Goundam district, a territory close to the Mauritanian border) but was created in exile, between Mauritanian and Burkinabe refugee camps.

And… their first international concert took place here in Liège, at our Festival. It’s been exactly 30 years since everyone who attended the concert is still talking about it!

Weaving together women's voices, ululations, handclaps, and electric guitars, their songs convey a message of love, peace, and defence of the rights of the Kel Tamajeq (a community speaking Tamajeq, the language of the Tuareg).

Some of you can expect a historic reunion and others a memorable discovery!

Tartit est un groupe iconique de la scène musicale touarègue, et l'un des seuls menés par des femmes.
