Since January 2023, Voix De Femmes and the Maison des femmes d’ici et d’ailleurs (the House of Women from here and elsewhere) have been co-hosting a series of Expression Workshops. Led by Catherine Wilkin, facilitator, author, and actress, the participants in this project explore the connections that unite their backgrounds and lived experiences with the major issues of equality and justice in our societies. What can we unearth from the great story in small gestures?
From these two years spent together, the ambition of a collective theatrical creation was born: Les fleurs de l’ombre / Shadow Flowers.
« I am the most important woman I know ».
On stage, eight women strive around a sewing machine. Together, they sew, unsew, and resew fragments of their stories. By weaving them into tales of uprooting and struggle, they seek to break free from the constraints of silence to show—and share—all the strength they hold.
After the performance you can meet with the women carrying the project.
